HISTORY

Llanrwst Utd was formed in 1983 following the amalgamation of two clubs in the town, Llanrwst Town and Llanrwst Athletic. The club plays its matches at the picturesque setting of Gwydir park were football has been played for over a hundred years. Working together with the strong Junior section in the town which has teams playing from the Under 8’s up to senior level, we see many players making their way to the first team and beyond to a higher standard.Since winning the Gwynedd League in Season 2003-2004, we have been a competitive side in the Welsh Alliance League, in the last two seasons, winning the Mawddach Cup in season 2018-2019 and this season finishing in our best ever position of 3rd. in the Welsh Alliance.During the last two years our hard working committee has been busy with improving our ground and facilities to meet the new Tier 3 ground criteria.  They include 100 seats in a covered stand and improvements to the drainage system. We were successful in our application to become one of the founder members of the Ardal Northern West League. Our Honours are Cookson Cup Runners up 1987-1988, Barritt Cup Winners 1997-1998, FAW Carlsberg Trophy runners up 1997-1998, Gwynedd League President Runners up 1997-1998, Gwynedd League Winners 2003/2004, Mawddach Challenge Cup winners in 2012-2013 and 2018-2019.Reserve Team Honours are Ron Jones Cup Winners 2001-2002 and 2003-2004, Vale of Conwy League Winners and John Hughes Challenge Cup Winners 2003-2004, Wynnstay Cup Runners Up 2003-2004.
