Manager appointed

Penycae Football Club have announce that Lee Pope has joined the club as First Team Manager!

Lee (right) has left his role as Academy Manager and Head of Elite Performance at Cymru Premier side Cefn Druids to take the vacant managerial role at the club.
Having held multiple meetings with Lee it became apparent that he shares many of the same core values and the vision as the board of the directors and that this was an opportunity that fitted both the club and Lee extremely well.
Lee has a vast knowledge of local football and has been responsible for the development of many of the best local youngsters in the area, in recent years.
Following the appointment we asked Lee for his thoughts on his new role;
"When Colin got in contact with me asking if I would be interested in having a chat about the vacant manager job it was an easy decision, I had really enjoyed my time at the club when I initially came in as assistant manager with Ben a few years ago. I had kept in touch with a few lads from the club and had a good relationship with them even after leaving to take my full-time role at druids. Obviously, I had followed the teams' results keenly over the last couple of years and I felt like when I met Colin that if his ideas matched mine I was going to take the job.
Having spoken to Colin for about 5 hours, we discussed at length, my ideas and the way I felt about football and the club and I honestly don’t think there’s a more passionate man about his club than Jackson and when he spoke about Penycae I could tell I wanted to be a part of what was going on.
It’s a great club with a devoted board and a young and talented playing staff, from my initial meetings I can tell everyone is desperate to see the club progress both on and off the field so the future is certainly bright and it’s my job now to help do my part to take the club where they want to get to, obviously, the leagues are on hold and with the new tier 3 a relatively unknown in terms of oppositions there’s no ever been a better time to take over from Ben who has done a great job as manager in recent years. I’ve made it clear that I want to coach at the highest possible level I can get to and I really believe with Penycae I have the opportunity to show my ability as a coach. I can’t wait to get going. I’m really grateful to Penycae and the board for the opportunity."
Everyone involved with Penycae Football Club would like to welcome Lee back to the club
