Officers thoughts

The officers of the Ardal Northern leagues are as frustrated with the current restrictions that prevent the playing of league fixtures as we are sure you all are

In some peoples opinions this (unstarted) season should be abandoned, we feel this should be the last thing that happens

We have looked at some possibilities

  • Abandon and start again in the 2021/22 season
  • Consider playing games

If the second option the following considerations could be given to fixture arrangements

**In a decision made by the FAW National League Board all teams in the Ardal Northern leagues would have to complete fifteen league games to complete a full season, there could then be promotion and relegation as per the FAW pyramid regulations**

The season MUST have a final fixture date of May 31st (Monday)

If the leagues started on March 6th there would be nineteen Saturday's and numerous mid weeks dates available

As can be seen from the example if games started on March 6th there would be enough time for fifteen league games plus the promotion play-off game to be played without clubs needing to play two games every week

It would also be possible to get a fifteen-game season in if games started in April

League preparation

  • Fixture and match official scheduling
  • Any temporary rule amendments required (would need FAW approval)

Considerations and thoughts

  • Less chance of postponements due to weather
  • AGM would have to be at the end of June/start of July

We all wait to see what will happen and other options may be taken into consideration if a start date becomes available
